88 Days of AI, Day 6

Automation isn't about robots replacing people. It's about designing your flow.

Stop dreaming of robot armies. Start fixing your Tuesday afternoon.

Everyone thinks automation means some fancy system doing everything. Wrong. Real automation is you identifying the repetitive junk in your workflow and letting AI eat it for breakfast.

Take client reports. You still set strategy, you still present findings. But that middle part? Formatting data, writing summaries, creating charts? That's AI food.

Map out your process. Find the mundane middle steps. Hand those off. Keep the thinking and relationship parts. You just bought back three hours.

This is the AI Officer Mindset realized. You're not getting replaced; you're getting promoted. You become the architect while AI becomes the builder. The winners aren't automating everything. They're automating the right things.

Think of it like cooking dinner. You still choose the menu and season to taste. But chopping onions for twenty minutes? That's what food processors are for.

COPY-PASTE FRAMEWORK

Ready to automate your first process? Use this template:

STEP 1: Map Your Process

Task I do weekly: [e.g., Client reports, data entry, meeting summaries]

Current steps:
1. [List every step - be specific]
2. [Don't skip anything]
3. [Include time for each]
4. [...]
5. [...]

Total time: [X hours]

STEP 2: Categorize Each Step

KEEP (Human-only):
- [ ] Requires judgment/creativity
- [ ] Builds relationships
- [ ] Strategic decisions

AUTOMATE (AI can do):
- [ ] Repetitive formatting
- [ ] Data compilation
- [ ] First-draft writing
- [ ] Chart creation
- [ ] Pattern-based work

STEP 3: Simple Automation Prompt

I need to automate [specific task]. Here's my current process: [paste your steps].

The AI should handle: [list automate items from Step 2].

I will still handle: [list keep items from Step 2].

Create a simple workflow I can implement this week using [ChatGPT/Claude/automation tool].

Real Example:

I need to automate weekly client report creation. Here's my current process:
1. Pull data from 3 spreadsheets (30 min)
2. Format into template (20 min)
3. Write executive summary (15 min)
4. Create 3 charts (25 min)
5. Review and add insights (20 min)
6. Send to client (5 min)

The AI should handle: data formatting, initial summary drafts, chart creation.

I will still handle: strategic insights, client-specific observations, final review.

Create a simple workflow I can implement this week using ChatGPT and Google Sheets.

Your move today: Pick one task you do weekly. Find the boring middle. Give it to your AI buddy. Use the saved time for actual thinking.
